Privacy Policy
Last updated: 01-09-2026 · Data Fiduciary: Swapraxis LLP
This policy explains what personal data we collect through onlinelegalhelp.org, why we collect it, how long we keep it, who else sees it, and what you can require us to do about it. It is written to the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Rules, 2025.
In this policy, “you” are the Data Principal. Swapraxis LLP is the Data Fiduciary — the entity that decides why and how your data is processed and that is answerable for it.
1. Who we are
Swapraxis LLP. Contact: contact@onlinelegalhelp.org. Grievance Officer contact details are at clause 12.
2. What we collect, and why
We collect only what the stated purpose requires.
| Data | Why we collect it | Basis |
| Name | To address you correctly in our reply | Your consent, given when you submit the form |
| Mobile number | To respond by call or WhatsApp where you have asked us to | Your consent |
| Email address | To respond in writing | Your consent |
| District / city in Uttar Pradesh | To identify which court or tribunal ordinarily has jurisdiction, so the information we give you is relevant | Your consent |
| Type of matter and a short description of your question | To understand what information you need and to answer it | Your consent |
| Messages you send us on WhatsApp or email | To conduct and keep a record of the correspondence | Your consent |
| IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, referring page | To keep the site secure, diagnose faults, and understand which content is useful | Legitimate use — security and service operation; analytics cookies only with your consent |
We do not require, and ask you not to send, court documents, FIR copies, medical records, financial statements, identity documents or any other sensitive material through this website. If you send them anyway, we will hold them under this policy and delete them on request, but you should not send them.
3. What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal data.
- We do not rent, trade or transfer your enquiry to any third party for that party’s marketing.
- We do not build advertising profiles about you or use your enquiry data for behavioural advertising.
- We do not make automated decisions about you that produce legal effects.
- We do not knowingly collect personal data of anyone under 18. See clause 9.
4. Who else sees your data
Your enquiry is received and handled by Swapraxis LLP. Beyond that, your data is disclosed only in these situations:
- Independent legal practitioners — only on your separate, specific and recorded consent. We do not share your enquiry with any advocate unless you have asked us to and have confirmed that request. If you give that consent you may withdraw it at any time, and we will stop sharing further, though we cannot recall what has already been sent.
- Service providers who operate our infrastructure under contract and on our instructions: our website host, our email provider, our messaging provider, and our analytics provider. They may process your data only to deliver the service to us.
- Where we are compelled by law — a court order, a summons, a lawful direction from a statutory authority, or a legal obligation to disclose.
- On restructuring — if the business or the website is transferred, your data may transfer with it, and you will be told before that happens.
5. Where your data is held
Our website and enquiry records are hosted on servers made available by our hosting provider. Some of our service providers may process data on infrastructure located outside India. Any such transfer is made in accordance with section 16 of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and is subject to any restriction the Central Government notifies on transfers to a particular country.
6. How long we keep it
| Category | Retention | Then |
| Enquiry submitted, no further contact | 24 months from the date of the enquiry | Erased |
| Enquiry with continuing correspondence | 24 months from the last contact | Erased |
| Data you have asked us to erase | Erased on verification of the request | Erased, except where retention is required by law |
| Records required to be kept under any tax, company or other law | The period that law requires | Erased at the end of it |
| Website logs and analytics data | 12 months | Erased or aggregated beyond identification |
When the purpose for which data was collected is no longer being served and retention is not required by law, we erase it.
7. Your rights
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you may:
- Ask what we hold — a summary of your personal data being processed, what processing is being done, and the identities of anyone with whom it has been shared.
- Ask us to correct or complete it — including to update anything inaccurate or out of date.
- Ask us to erase it — unless we are required by law to keep it.
- Withdraw your consent — at any time, and as easily as you gave it. Withdrawal does not affect processing already carried out, and we may stop being able to respond to you.
- Nominate another person — to exercise these rights on your behalf in the event of your death or incapacity.
- Complain — to our Grievance Officer, and if you are not satisfied, to the Data Protection Board of India.
To exercise any of these, write to contact@onlinelegalhelp.org from the email address you used, or from the mobile number you gave us. We will verify that the request is genuinely yours before acting on it, and we will respond within the period prescribed under the Rules.
8. Your duties
Section 15 of the Act places duties on you as well. You must not impersonate another person when giving us data, must not suppress material information where the law requires disclosure, and must not make a false or frivolous complaint. The Act provides for a penalty for breach of these duties.
9. Children
This website is not intended for children. We do not knowingly collect the personal data of a person under 18 years of age, and we do not track, profile or direct advertising at children. If you are under 18, do not submit an enquiry — ask a parent or guardian to do so. If we learn that we hold a child’s personal data without verifiable consent from a parent or lawful guardian, we will erase it.
Where a matter concerns a child — for example, a proceeding involving a juvenile or a child victim — do not send us the child’s name or identifying details. Publication of such details is restricted by law.
10. Security
We apply reasonable security safeguards to prevent breach: encrypted transport (HTTPS) across the site, access to enquiry data limited to the small number of people who need it, credential controls on the hosting and email accounts, and periodic review of who has access. No system is perfectly secure, and we do not claim otherwise.
If a personal data breach occurs, we will notify each affected person and the Data Protection Board of India in the manner and within the timelines prescribed under the Digital Personal Data Protection Rules, 2025.
11. Cookies
We use cookies as described in our Cookie & Tracking Notice, which forms part of this policy.
12. Grievance Officer
If you have a complaint about how your personal data has been handled:
- Grievance Officer
- Email: contact@onlinelegalhelp.org)
- Address: Swapraxis LLP
We will acknowledge your complaint and respond within the timelines set out on our Grievance Redressal page. If you remain dissatisfied, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
13. Changes
We may update this policy. The current version is always the one on this page, with the “last updated” date at the top. Where a change materially affects how we use data you have already given us, we will tell you before it takes effect.
